‘PHRONESIS’ PHILOSOPHY SOCIETY
Phronesis, is an ancient Greek word, refers to prudence, practical virtue, and practical wisdom. Phronesis leads to breakthrough thinking and creativity and enables the individual to discern and make good judgments about what is the right thing to do in a situation. According to Socrates “Phronesis is the necessary condition of all virtues.”Keeping this view in mind society provides the platform to those who aim at exploring some new vistas in philosophical learning and transforming human life.
The Department of Philosophy, organized a national webinar on the theme Swami Vivekananda and Youth of Today on 12th January 2022 from 11 AM to 12 Noon through an online platform. An eminent scholar Swami Shantatmananda, secretary of RamakrishnaMission, New Delhi was invited as a resource person. He stated “Travel your life by following the path of righteousness. A students’ seminar was organized on 6th April 2019under the activity and cultural group named ‘Phronesis’. The event started with a warm welcome to our esteemed chief guest, Prof. Balaganapathi Devarkonda (HOD, Philosophy, Faculty of Arts, University of Delhi).This was followed by his lecture on “The relevance of Philosophy in contemporary times.”A debate competition was also organized for the students. Many students presented their arguments for and against the motion that ‘Capital punishment should be abolished’. A debate competition was organized in the foyer on the topic “Rising intolerance in our contemporary society” on7th April 2016.
