Department Society

The name of the chemical society of the chemistry department of the Dyal Singh College is ‘RASAYANIKA’. It is a society of the students for the students run by the students under the guidance of the faculty members of the chemistry department. The teacher’s representatives consisting of a Convener and two members are elected by the teachers of the department. The student’s representatives are elected democratically by the students of each year. This team of representatives from all the three years constitutes the executives of the RASAYANIKA. These representatives elects one president, one vice-president, one secretary and one joint secretary out of themselves.

The broad objectives of the society are:

To explore and develop leadership skills among the students of the department.
To develop and strengthen the sense of co-operation and support among the students.
To explore, nurture and develop inherent extra-curricular talent among the students.
To enrich the treasure of knowledge of the students which can help to set their goal for the future.
To create an environment for the exploration of contemporary research and development in the field of chemistry.

In order to achieve the objectives of the society it organizes various activities throughout the year, like,

To organize fresher’s welcome for the newly admitted students and farewell for the outgoing students.
To organize cultural programmes.
To organize annual festivals of the department.
To organize various type inter-college/intra-college competions like Chembola, Quiz, Poster presentation, Poster Making, Rangoli etc.
To organize scholarly talks/lectures delivered by eminent scholars.
To organize seminars/conferences on the current trends of research in chemistry.
To organize study trips to various industries and institutions for the students.
