 THE BOTANICAL SOCIETY OF DYAL SINGH COLLEGE

Prakriti, the Botanical Society of Dyal Singh College is a society run mainly by the students and has been actively engaged in various activities like organizing lectures delivered by learned academicians covering topics from basic Botany to the recent trends. The Society aims to showcase the talents of the young minds and encourage them in their extra-curricular activities.  Elections for the office bearers of the Society are held every year for the post of President, Vice-President and Secretary marking the beginning of activities of the Society. Students from all the batches take part in the election. Plantation drives are initiated on the occasion of Van Mahotsav to plant more trees of medicinal and economic importance inside the college. Lectures are held during the month of September where eminent scientists deliver lectures on topics related to Botany and its allied sciences. Botanical festivals are organized by the society annually where students from different colleges of the University of Delhi actively participate in various events like Botanical Rangoli making, Pot decorations, Botanical Mandala art, Botanical Innovations, Scientific Elocutions and Quiz. Cash prizes and certificates are awarded to the winners.

To encourage the students and create an innovative teaching-learning process field trips, excursions, visits to Biodiversity parks and educational institutes and industries are conducted by the Society. Virtual visits were also organized during the pandemic. A Valedictory Ceremony to mark the closing of the activities of the society are held at the end of March.
