Prakriti, the Botanical Society of Dyal Singh College has been actively engaged in various activities of the students like organizing lectures by eminent academicians covering topics from basic Botany to the recent trends and Botanical fest where students from various colleges participate in events organized by the society.
ACTIVITIES OF THE SOCIETY DURING THE YEAR 2017-2018
A lecture on “ Unusual plant lipids; a gift of Prakriti’ was delivered by Dr Girish Mishra from Department of Botany, University of Delhi on October 10, 2017 on account of the inaugural lecture. A lecture on “Science and Technology for SpeciallyAbled Persons” was delivered by Dr Vinay Kumar Singh, Professor in Education of Special Needs, Department of Education of Groups with Special Needs (DEGN) NCERT, New Delhi on account of National Science Day on February 28, 2017. A poster presentation was also held among students and the best poster was awarded.
ACTIVITIES OF THE SOCIETY DURING THE YEAR 2018-2019
A Lecture on “Biodiversity for Environmental Sustainability” was delivered by Dr Faiyaz Ahmad Khudsar, Scientist, Yamuna Biodiversity Park on October 11, 2018. A plantation drive under ‘Project Green Hearts’ with Peepal Baba and fever 104 FM was organized at Freedom fighter’s park, Saket on October 06, 2018 by the Botanical Society. TheAnnualBotanicalFest was celebrated on February 04, 2019, where students from various colleges participated in the different events like Botanical Rangoli, Pot Decoration, Poster making, Ad Making, Botanical Quiz organized by the society and cash prizes awarded to the winners.
ACTIVITIES OF THE SOCIETY DURING THE YEAR 2019-2020
Prakriti, the Botanical Society of Dyal Singh College and Eva, the Life Science Society organized an Inaugural lecture on 31st August, 2019. A talk was delivered by Prof. Rupam Kapoor, from the Department of Botany, University of Delhi on ‘Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi: Most Loyal Friends of Plants’. The Annual Botanical fest was held on January 30,2020 with great enthusiasm by the students from various colleges who participated in the events organized by the Society.
